The crowd has spoken and the results from the logo selection are in

Today we celebrate our new corporate identity sourced and selected by our friends and followers.

First off we would like to thank the four designers for taking the time to participate in our crowdsourcing experiment. We did receive some feedback from designers criticizing the process and we do agree. This approach might not be for everybody and we might have received different results by going through the traditional tender and contract route. But given that we are living and breathing the crowdsourcing revolution, we just had to give it a go.

At the time of writing, the winning entry has 154 likes, more than double the votes of the runner up.
So it gives us great pleasure to announce the winner: Oscar Bjarnason

Oscar is an extremely talented designer and the brain behind some of the best known brand identities in Iceland. We’re humbled that he took the time to participate and extremely satisfied with the work of art he produced for us. Agora is Greek for a square or meeting place and the brand mark is more than the obvious light bulb. It can also represent a public square, a person and the letter A (which occurs twice in our name if you hadn’t noticed).

It was clear from your voting that the despite different tastes, his design was by far the popular favorite. It remains to be seen if the rest of the world agrees and we’ll have our logo shining on billboards on Times Square. What the future has in store remains to be seen, but Oscar will receive 50K isk and ongoing projects related to our brand identity. Thanks dude. We really appreciate it.

Check out his site: http://analog.sys.is/ and hire him for your upcoming logo and brand design projects.

Now for the three runners up, again, a huge shout out and thank you for your effort. You have a special place in our hearts and you will receive a special invitation to our housewarming party when we move into the new office. You might get an opportunity then to recoup some of the costs by consuming large amounts of beer and snacks when the time comes.

The Runner up with 72 likes is Sólveig Rolfsdóttir an illustrator, a graphic designer and a great talent. Check out her impressive portfolio. Takk Solla!

Third place goes to Toro AKA Þórarinn Stefánsson. A web wizard, an IT guru, a design oracle and all around nice guy. His site: http://www.thorarinn.com

And last but not least, our good friend Þorgils Völundarson. He’s responsible for the National Assembly Logo design and is also a mean database and IT tamer. A true all round genius with a cupboard full of different hats fitting for any project.

Finally we’d like to thank all of you for participating and for your 257 likes in total.
